We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a few things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters every 30 days. If you fail to do so, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your furnace will still not turn on, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 901-235-1196 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
